Working safely
Isolation permits (lockout)
Plant isolation, from request to release.
The situation
Isolating plant puts both worker safety and production availability on the line. The circuit — request, check, preparation, isolation, work, de-isolation — passes through a dozen hands. On paper, nobody knows at any given moment which permits are open, which are waiting for approval, and which plant is out of service.
What the module does
The module carries the full permit lifecycle, with the steps and checks of the trade: creation, approval, previous-day preparation for the next, isolation, tracking of work and signatures, then release.
It handles linked permits — an overall permit and its detailed permits — and refuses inconsistent sequences.
It tracks unavailable equipment, publishes a simultaneous-operations schedule and produces the regulatory documents.
The rule that makes the difference
A hot work permit still open prevents the release of the associated isolation permit: plant cannot be returned to service while hot work is still running.
Key benefits
- The true state of isolated plant, at all times, for everyone
- Safety rules enforced by the system, not by individual vigilance
- Next-day preparation organised instead of improvised
- A complete audit trail: who requested, checked, isolated, signed, and when
